Shh… Keep Quiet…. Can you hear it?
All over the world, people are sleeping, waiting, listening, hoping, preparing. In the tradition of most of the western world, developed and developing nations, many are waiting to receive a gift, many others to give one (or many)!
Even in the East, there are many other traditions at or about this time of year, which are celebrated by gifts.
There are many, many, many more people whom don’t know about Christmas, and even if they did, aren’t in a position to give anything. But for those of us who are, tell your loved ones you love them; and give! Give from the heart, give sacrificially, give unconditionally, just, give!
You may “suffer through” a stiflingly formal Christmas, with mostly forgotten, dysfunctional relatives, requiring immense work and preparation for seemingly no thanks or reward. You may love the tradition and the food, the family stories, and the companionship. You may have a relaxed chiller of a day. You may even have to work. But whatever Christmas Day brings for you, my prayer is that you know the warmth of love, the surety of hope, and peace.
If you haven’t got somewhere to head, pop round to our place. It’ll be relaxed for sure, a kilo of prawns on the BBQ and 4 of steak. Champagne, Brie, and a delicious Strawberry and White Chocolate Misu. We’d love to share it with you.
This evening we had some boerewors, and a couple of snags (sausages) on the BBQ with our neighbours. Really relaxed. So there’s my wish – Have a very Merry Christmas, and see you in 2010. Thanks for all of your support and friendship this year, through the highs and the lows, I daily count the blessings and support of you, my friends and family.
