Well, welcome to 2012! I trust that 2012 will be a better year for you than 2011, and exceed your wildest dreams.
The other day I read about a project 365 challenge: Choose a theme and post a blog every day for the year. You’ll remember a couple of years ago I took part in a Twitter365 project, where the aim was to take a self portrait every day for the year.
Fun, cute, often inane, and totally self indulgent.
So this year, the project is going to be to blog every day for 2012. You can see some other examples here.

So with 42 as my domain, my plan is to post an answer to a standard life question or situation. Nothing spectacular, or ground-breaking, just a technique or tip that may help you. Could be for work, at home, as a parent, or to make your day a little easier.
Feel free to comment and add your perspective.
Project 2012: Day 1 – Jan 1 – The Secret to Perfect BBQ Steak
A simple trick I learned when I came to Australia in ‘99 to ensure a perfect, tender steak. Soak the meat in Orange Juice for about 20 minutes before you pop it on the BBQ. Either that, or rub fresh fruit on the raw meat (something like oranges, paw paw, or kiwi fruit) again about 20 mins before cooking.
The natural sugars in the fruit break down the enzymes in the meat to tenderise it spectacularly. Seal the meat on the flame for about 2 mins each side, then turn down the heat and cook for another 5 – 7 mins. I guarantee beautiful, medium-rare, tender steak.
What do you add to ensure your steak is great?
